At Mr & Mrs Stitch, we have selected a range of structured shirts from a few different brands, with each breaking down the term ‘structured’ into sub categories, to make it easier for you to choose the right one for each possible smart occasion throughout the season. Over the last few seasons, Thomas Maine’s tailored fit, and Eton’s slim fit, have emerged as our favourite structured shirts, with new brand and shirt maker specialist, John Miller, beginning to attract attention this season.
Thomas Maine, Eton, and John Miller make up the core of our of structured shirts. All three are Dutch brands, offering good length in sleeve and body, with the differences coming in their fit, and are supported by Stenstroms, a Swedish brand with a slightly different style.
Thomas Maine are a tailored fit (not regular, but not too slim). They are two-ply cotton, emphasising their structure and durability, with button down or cut away collars, and a subtle embroidered ‘crown’ logo.
All our Eton shirts are slim fit, as we have found that this fit within the brand offer the best shape for your structured look. There are however, two different ‘feels’ within our selection:
Poplin, a slightly finer cotton for light structure; and woven cotton, for a more defined structure.
Crisp white, with printed inserts, and all-over printed themes run parallel between Thomas Maine and Eton each season.
John Miller provide more depth in variety that those pre-mentioned. They are a slightly slimmer fit than Eton, and slightly softer in their make-up in comparison to our other structured shirts. We have stretch cotton, woven linen, and linen/cotton mix options, some with shillar collars to maintain their structure.
Stenstroms are a slightly different structured look than the rest due it’s Swedish origin, Stenstroms slim/75 comfort shirt is slim line and perhaps the most solid of our options, with it being made of twofold super cotton
