From one of our favourite contemporary brands with strong traditional influences, the new season Universal Works has a great selection of staple pieces that are easily adapted to the rest of your apparel. Taking inspiration from traditional fabrics and design, Universal Works has curated a label synonymous with contemporary style and relaxed self-confidence; no wonder they are one of our Autumn/Winter must-have brands. The new autumn winter line is inspired by the human need to roam, and the layers we choose wrap ourselves in for the expedition; for really… it’s all about the journey.
Universal Works has reinvigorated their signature shape and urban look with comfortable and sturdy fabrics, including hard-wearing twills, comfortable fleeces, and traditional wool. The colours they have chosen throughout are distinctly rural, with pops of olive, slate grey and earth tones, this season we are being reacquainted with nature. This season, Universal Works has released a few new versions of the Daybrook shirts in thick weight materials, making them perfect for the cooler months. Their iconic Chore Jackets now come in a checked merino wool version, adding some traditional heritage design to your look, while keeping it contemporary. Their blazers include a checked wool blend option with a matching pair of pleated Track pants, which could be worn separately or together with the matching waistcoat for a relaxed suit, a terrific option for adding a modern spin to your occasion-wear. If you are looking to extend your trouser essentials, the Nebraska trousers have an interesting fit, with the tapered leg trend we are beginning to see more of.
Style the Universal Works chinos with the Wax London Whiting overshirt, and Hoff trainers for a casual but polished look. Wear the Universal Works jackets over some Paul Smith knitwear, and a pair of Wax London Kurt trousers. Finish off your looks with an A.P.C. beanie, and a Paul Smith scarf for perfect cold weather dressing.
